The College of Education, Arts, and Sciences (CEAS) offers a wide range of academic programs in various fields such as education, humanities, and social sciences. With a diverse faculty of experts in their respective disciplines, students have the opportunity to engage in innovative research and experiential learning that prepares them for successful careers in their chosen fields. The College of Education, Arts and Sciences commits to produce excellent graduates in the fields of Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Bachelor of Science in Legal Management, Bachelor of Science in Social Work, and Teacher Education Programs (Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies and Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English) who will contribute in the development of our society and the broader global community as competitive and competent professionals.

The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education is a four-year program that provides students with a fundamental understanding and application of the principles of early childhood care and education, as well as experience in the application of these principles. This program aims to educate individuals to be competent early childhood practitioners working with children from 0-8 years old in various early childhood settings (home, community, school, and workplace). The BECED program is designed to prepare students for teaching and supporting your children’s development.

BECED-PVMO-1

The BS Legal Management (BSLM) Program is an interdisciplinary approach to the study of business, management, law and society. It provides knowledge and skills in the components of law and the legal and regulatory intricacies of the business environment.

The purpose of this multifaceted program is to develop the study of law within a business-management framework and to explore the myriad ways in which law is connected with other management disciplines pertinent to an understanding of contemporary business and society. The student is given two options as fields of concentration: General Management and Law.

Thus, this program is an excellent preparatory course for four-year law proper studies (Bachelor of Laws (LLB)/Juris Doctor (JD), or a pathway to graduate studies in business and management such as MBA and allied disciplines in social sciences such as MA/MS Applied Economics and MA in Public Administration (MPA).

CEAS-BS-LEGAL-MANAGEMENT

The Bachelor of Science in Psychology program is designed to provide students with a firm foundation of knowledge in Psychology, with additional preparation in the natural sciences to improve understanding of the human experience and perceived health. This strengthens the advocacy for mental health and becomes proactive to the needs of the community through the application of education, research and interventions. The program also provides a progressive curriculum that offers students the distinct, innovative, and dynamic opportunity to excel in the practice of psychology, particularly in industrial, educational, and clinical settings. Furthermore, it provides preparation for graduate studies in psychology as well as further studies in other professions.

Social Work education in the undergraduate level shall be geared towards the preparation of students for generalist social work practice. Professional education in social work requires the acquisition and application of beginning knowledge, attitudes, values and skills in enhancing the social functioning of individuals, families, groups and communities, linking people with needed resources, improving the operation of social service delivery networks, and promoting social justice through organizing and advocacy.

Bachelor of Secondary Education is an undergraduate teacher education program designed to equip learners with adequate and relevant competencies to teach in their chosen area of specialization/major in the secondary level. The program aims to develop highly motivated and competent teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for secondary education.

In the BS Social Work program, you can be an administrator and manager who are proactive leaders in public and private agencies; advocacy and community organizers who promote social justice and fight social inequality; developmental and disability workers who help individuals understand their legal rights and other societal rights; and mental health and substance abuse workers who provide a much-needed ecological perspective to treatment that focuses on the client in relation to family and neighborhood environments, community support systems, cultural attitudes, and policies. Legal Management is closely related to the management discipline and allied to: The functional fields of business administration such as accounting, finance, marketing, operations, IT and human resource management; in the specialized staff functions such as research, legal economics and; special fields and industries such as international management and customs administration, law and legal practice, hospitality and travel management, public administration, educational administration, and entrepreneurship.

How can you describe the BS Legal Management Curriculum?

The curriculum fo BS Legal Management (BSLM) is designed to support aspiring business and legal management professionals to develop the appropriate entry-level technical competence, professional skills, values, ethics and attitudes to successfully complete their studies and gain work entry in business (proft), not-for-profit organizations, NGO and Government organizations, or develop, start-up and run enterprises as entrepreneurs. The BSLM is also an excellent preparatory program for further graduate studies in law/Juris Doctor (LLB/JD) or MBA and MPA and covers a balance treatment of functional areas in human resource management, marketing, finance, operations and economics, business law and all aspects of the legal environment of business. It also broadens the graduate’s knowledge and skills in both local and international business environments. It is composed of 116 units for aligned SHS graduates or 131 units (additional 15 units of Bridging Program for non-academic-ABM-strand graduates), including the required General Education Curriculum (GEC) and covers all major areas required by the business and legal management profession.
