Third-year psychology students from the University of Batangas Lipa City (UBLC) conducted a two-day psychological assessments and interviews for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Male Dormitory in Lipa City, Oct. 21 and 30.

The field-based activity is called “3rd Year Psychological Assessment in BJMP” where the students apply the different theories and ethical practices they learn in the classroom.

Ms. May Marcell M. Corneja noted that this activity integrated academic learning with social responsibility. Students engaged directly with PDLs under the supervision of licensed and qualified faculty members such as Ms. Corneja to provide PDLs with crucial hands-on experience.

The activity was structured to uphold principles of human dignity, fairness, and respect for individual rights when working with a vulnerable population. Students gained practical application in emphasizing compassion, confidentiality, and professionalism.

The reports generated from these detailed assessments and interviews are intended to provide valuable insights that can contribute to the rehabilitation and reintegration efforts for the PDLs.
