Dr. Glen B. Millar, faculty member of the College of Education, Arts and Sciences at the University of Batangas Lipa City (UBLC), was named Outstanding Book Author of the Year 2025 by PHIL-CAD Academician Publishing. The award was conferred on December 20, 2025, during the 2nd National Conference on Innovative Curriculum Design cum Virtual Books and Magazines Launching, held virtually through Zoom Video Conferencing, themed “Empowered Voices, Collective Impact: Advancing Knowledge Through Collaboration and Innovation.”
Dr. Millar earned the recognition for his book, “Pathways to Publication: A Comprehensive Guide for Researchers”, which provides a practical and ethical roadmap for academic publishing. The book guides students, educators, and emerging scholars through the entire research-to-publication process, from conceptualizing research ideas and choosing methodologies to preparing manuscripts, selecting reputable journals, and responding to peer reviews. According to Dr. Millar, the book’s contribution lies in bridging theory and practice, serving both as a reference text and mentoring tool for novice researchers and graduate students navigating the complexities of scholarly publishing.
In his statement, Dr. Millar expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, saying, “Being recognized as Outstanding Book Author of the Year 2025 by PHIL-CAD Academician Publishing is both deeply humbling and profoundly fulfilling. I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude – gratitude to the institution that believed in my work, to my colleagues and mentors who continuously inspire excellence, and to my students who give real purpose to every page I write.” He added, “This honor is a reminder that teaching, research, and writing are powerful tools for shaping minds and building a better future. I carry this recognition as motivation to continue serving the academic community with excellence, purpose, and humility.”
The awarding institution, PHIL-CAD Academician Publishing, was established in January 2024 under the leadership of Dr. Minsoware S. Bacolod. Its origins trace back to 2023 when a group of academic writers and professionals sought to create a platform for promoting scholarly and creative works across the Philippines. Today, PHIL-CAD serves as a dynamic platform for educators, researchers, and professionals, featuring thought-provoking articles, innovative practices, and discussions on pedagogical methodologies. It fosters knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and ethical scholarship, contributing to the advancement of education locally and internationally.
Dr. Millar emphasized the broader impact of his work, noting that it supports the development of quality education (UNSDG 4) by equipping learners and educators with the skills and ethical foundation to succeed in research and publication. “The recognition affirms that scholarship grounded in passion, integrity, and service truly matters. As an educator, it strengthens my commitment to create learning resources that empower learners to think critically and act responsibly,” he stated.
The award marks a significant milestone in Dr. Millar’s scholarly journey, encouraging him to expand research initiatives, develop additional high-quality academic resources, and engage in collaborative projects that build research capacity at both national and international levels. This achievement reflects the University of Batangas’ commitment to promoting academic excellence, fostering research innovation, and nurturing educators who contribute meaningfully to both the local and global academic community.
