College of Arts and Sciences

The College of Arts and Sciences is considered to be the general edu­cation provider of the entire University, handling the English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Communication, Legal Management and Psychology departments.

The University of Batangas (formerly known as Western Philippine College) was founded in April 28, 1946. It is situated at the heart of Batangas City. The Western Philippine Colleges saw its first day classes on April 28, 1947 in a small rented house on Rizal Avenue with a roster of 48 students. The first courses offered were Education, Liberal Arts and Commerce.

Currently, the College of Arts and Sciences has earned several accreditations granted by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) namely: Level IV accreditation status for its Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Level II for the Bachelor of Arts in Communication, and Level 1 for Bachelor of Science in Legal Management and Bachelor of Science in Psychology programs. This indicates the CAS’ commitment of providing high academic quality and relevant professional education through a well-integrated program of activities and processes. The continuous program improvement strategy implemented by the College ensures its graduates to become competitive professionals and leaders both locally and even globally.

    6. Ensure extensive and functional learning resource facilities
    7. Ensure balanced and holistic student development.
    8. Implement Effective Marketing Strategies for the purpose of enhancing enrollment profile.
