The University of Batangas (UB) Young Communicators’ Guild (YCG) spearheaded “SinEksena,” an internal activity where student performers recreated iconic scenes from renowned Filipino films. The YCG ran this project from September 18 to 25, 2023, providing a unique platform for practical, hands-on learning.

Student performers showcased their teamwork and artistic creativity in several performances. VPI Alliyah Margaux Zuno and IPDO officer Jim Anthony Losabio, along with TDS members Ken Manuel, Mich Ramos Macaraig, Terry Ann Tarcelo, Terry Joy Tarcelo, and Caitlin De Jesus, brought the 2013 film “Four Sisters and a Wedding” to life. YCG and TDS members Sean Patrick Gupo and Mich Macaraig captured the dramatic moments of “In My Life” (2009). Jim Anthony Losabio also worked with TDS members Jhonbert Bartolome, Ken Rodriguez, and Caitlin De Jesus to portray scenes from “Seven Sundays” (2017).

Through these recreations, the students actively immersed themselves in the culture of filmmaking and the art of acting. The activity promoted collaboration and critical thinking, allowing participants to translate theoretical knowledge into tangible experience. The performers developed their production skills and artistic confidence while fostering a deep appreciation for the nation’s cultural heritage.

This entire initiative, “SinEksena 2023,” served as a meaningful platform for this exact kind of creative expression and experiential learning. The project directly embodied the principles of SDG 4: Quality Education, particularly Indicator 4.3.2 for lifelong learning events.  YCG’s activity encouraged students to move beyond traditional classroom learning, using the art of cinema to celebrate the richness of Philippine storytelling and visual artistry.
