The University of Batangas formally launched the celebration of its 80th founding anniversary alongside the 15th anniversary of the University of Batangas Lipa City (UBLC) on February 10, 2026, marking two significant milestones in the institution’s history of academic excellence, service, and expansion. The commemorative activities were held at the Lipa City campus, the university’s second campus in Lipa City, Batangas, gathering administrators, faculty members, students, alumni, and partners in a shared tribute to the institution’s enduring legacy.

The celebration commenced with a solemn eucharistic celebration officiated by UB alumni priest Rev. Fr. Froilan Carreon Jr. and Rev. Fr. Oscar Andal, together with the Parish Priest of Sto. Niño Parish, Rev. Fr. Jayson Siapco. The mass set a reflective tone for the anniversary, offering thanksgiving for eight decades of academic service and 15 years of transformative presence in Lipa City.

Following the mass, participants took part in a legacy walk that symbolized the institution’s journey from vision to realization. The program proceeded with opening remarks from Senior Vice President Mr. Alex A. Ramos, who traced the beginnings of the Lipa expansion. He shared that as early as 2008, the university had already envisioned extending its services to Lipa to better serve the Lipeño community and nearby areas. In 2011, the university began leasing a space in the city as an enrollment and inquiry site for prospective students. By 2012, operations formally commenced in what is now known as Building A – the first building of UBLC. Standing in the same building more than a decade later, Ramos underscored that the 80th and 15th anniversaries reflect sustained commitment and growth. He expressed confidence that in the next 15 years and beyond, UBLC will continue to reach greater heights.

Founded in 1946 as Western Philippine College, the University of Batangas has evolved into a comprehensive educational institution serving Batangas and neighboring provinces. The establishment of the Lipa City campus in 2011 marked a strategic expansion, broadening access to quality education and strengthening the university’s regional impact. Over the past 15 years, UBLC has enhanced its academic programs, facilities, and partnerships, reinforcing its role as a vital extension of the main campus.

The anniversary celebration also featured the opening of interactive college exhibits that highlighted student innovation, creativity, and service. The College of Information Technology, Entertainment and Communication presented a “Marriage Booth” and an artwork shop showcasing student-made crafts for sale. The College of Education, Arts and Sciences offered nail art services and interactive booth activities. The College of Health Sciences provided free medical services, including blood pressure testing and blood sugar monitoring, promoting wellness within the campus community.

The College of Engineering and Architecture displayed student projects and set up a gaming console area to demonstrate technological applications and design concepts. The College of Criminal Justice Education organized a shooting range simulation experience, giving participants an engaging glimpse of the program. The College of Management and Tourism earned the Best Booth award for its themed exhibit, “To Eight-Finity and Beyond,” which featured carnival-inspired games that drew strong participation from students, staff, visitors, and alumni.

Additional activities such as the UB Alumni Exhibition Game, Palarong Pinoy, and the Amazing Mind Race fostered camaraderie and school spirit. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partners came together to honor the university’s shared journey. The vibrant atmosphere across the campus reflected pride in the past, gratitude for the present, and hope for the future.

The shared milestone underscores how the University of Batangas has transformed from a post-war institution into a dynamic university system with expanding reach and sustained relevance. For UBLC, the 15-year anniversary affirms its steady growth as a strong arm of the university – serving the Lipeño community and extending educational opportunities beyond the city.

As the institution celebrates eight decades of excellence and 15 years of expansion in Lipa, the anniversary serves as both commemoration and commitment – a reaffirmation of the mission of the University of Batangas to deliver accessible, quality education anchored in service, innovation, and community engagement for generations to come.

With the University of Batangas Lipa City officially kicking off its anniversary celebration, university officials confirmed that more events are set to unfold in the coming months. UBLC is preparing to host national-level events that will further position the campus as a venue for academic and community engagement beyond the local sphere.

In a separate interview, College Student Government President Anne Marjorie Caringal shared that several activities are already in the pipeline for UBians. She hinted at upcoming events featuring artists and music, designed to bring the campus community together in celebration. When asked to describe the future anniversary activities, Caringal responded: “Engaging, fun, exciting – and grand,” underscoring the scale and spirit of what students can anticipate.

As the milestone year progresses, UBLC continues to look back on how vision turned into reality while confidently moving forward, strengthened by its legacy and driven by the promise of greater opportunities ahead.
