Chavez, Dean of the College of Education, Arts and Sciences (CEAS) of the University of Batangas Lipa Campus (UBLC), represented the institution in an international academic forum after successfully delivering a major presentation at the International Seminar on Language, Literature, Culture, and Education 2025 held at the Zhra Syariah Hotel in Kendari, Indonesia. The seminar gathered educators and researchers from across Southeast Asia to discuss emerging perspectives and innovations in education.

In her presentation, “The Human–AI Partnership: Reimagining Curriculum, Craft, and Conscience in Education,” Dr. Chavez explored how artificial intelligence can work alongside educators to enhance, rather than replace, human-led teaching. “AI should complement the educator, not diminish them,” she said, underscoring the importance of keeping human values at the center of technological advancements. She outlined three major themes: reimagining the curriculum through adaptive learning and personalized support, elevating the craft of teaching by positioning educators as designers of learning experiences, and strengthening ethical conscience in AI use, particularly in student data protection and equitable instruction.

Dr. Chavez emphasized that these themes directly relate to UBLC’s ongoing initiatives. “At University of Batangas, we are actively exploring technology-integrated instruction and faculty digital upskilling. This seminar gave us a platform to highlight our efforts and reinforce our commitment to preparing future educators for an AI-augmented world,” she explained.

Reflecting on how the international engagement enriched her perspective as a dean and educator, Dr. Chavez shared that the event broadened her understanding of regional responses to AI in education. “Listening to fellow educators made me realize that across Southeast Asia, we share the same challenges – teacher readiness, digital divides, assessment integrity, and the need for ethical frameworks,” she noted. She added that the experience renewed her commitment to balance innovation with humanity: “The future of education must embrace technology, but never at the expense of conscience and compassion.”

Dr. Chavez also identified several opportunities that emerged for the University of Batangas following her participation in the seminar. These include potential collaborative research on AI-assisted instruction and digital ethics, interest from institutions seeking partnerships on curriculum innovation, and possibilities for student and faculty exchanges. “Colleagues expressed strong interest in co-developing modules and events focusing on AI literacy and digital pedagogy. This opens meaningful pathways for UBLC to expand its network and strengthen its academic profile,” she said.

She noted that the seminar significantly enhances UBLC’s visibility in global academic conversations. “Representing UBLC in this forum positions us as an institution ready to contribute to global discourse on ethical, future-ready education,” Dr. Chavez stated. “It affirms that our work is aligned with the region’s shared goals of fostering responsible, human-centered innovation.”

Overall, Dr. Chavez’s engagement in the 2025 international seminar showcased the University of Batangas’ emerging initiatives in technology-integrated education and strengthened the institution’s internationalization efforts by establishing new academic linkages that advance its mission to cultivate digitally capable, reflective, and values-driven educators prepared for the evolving landscape of AI-enabled learning.

In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), this achievement further underscores the University’s unwavering dedication to fostering inclusive, future-responsive, and globally competitive learning environments.
