This collaboration marks another milestone in UBLC\u2019s continuing effort to foster internationalization, cultural exchange, and academic partnership among Southeast Asian institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The warm welcome took place during the University\u2019s Flag Raising Ceremony, where University President Lily Marlene J. Hernandez-Bohn personally extended her greetings to the visiting students. In her message, she emphasized UB\u2019s commitment to cultivating a globally engaged academic community that embraces diversity and shared learning.<em> \u201cThrough this partnership with the College of Education, Arts, and Sciences, we hope your stay here will be filled with meaningful learning, new friendships, and memorable experiences that reflect the unity and harmony of ASEAN.\u201d<\/em> the University President remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview with the international students after the ceremony, they expressed their gratitude and excitement for the opportunity to join the SEAMEO internship program. Siti Sabariah shared her eagerness to immerse herself in Batangue\u00f1o culture and exchange cultural experiences, saying, <em>\u201cI hope that I can learn more about the culture of the Philippines, Batangas, and also Lipa City \u2013 and share our Indonesian culture as well.\u201d<\/em> Anim Faddilah Sakobou expressed that she looks forward to enhancing her English communication and teaching competence, adding, <em>\u201cI want to learn how to be a teacher here and understand what the kids need.\u201d <\/em>Meanwhile, Rensi \u201cAchi\u201d Amelia conveyed her appreciation for the warm welcome she received, noting that she felt accepted and respected as a Muslim student \u2013 a reflection of UBLC\u2019s inclusive and diverse environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joining them soon is Aprida Melia Layani from Universitas Borneo Tarakan, who is expected to arrive later today to complete the group of four SEAMEO student interns under the CEAS program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The students are taking part in a month-long internship program focused on teacher education practices and cultural immersion. They are currently pursuing degrees in English Education and Early Childhood Education, and are set to conduct their on-the-job training at Inosluban\u2013Marawoy Integrated National High School, one of UBLC\u2019s partner schools in internship endeavors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Mr. Nikko Laylo, the faculty-in-charge of the SEAMEO interns, the college prepared extensively for their arrival. <em>\u201cWe wanted to give them a meaningful experience that combines academic growth with cultural appreciation. It\u2019s not just about teaching, but letting them feel at home and experience the hospitality of the Batangue\u00f1os,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also highlighted that the program represents the fruition of CEAS Dean Dr. Minerva Apita-Chavez\u2019s partnership initiatives with Southeast Asian institutions under the SEAMEO framework, following benchmarking and collaboration visits. In her closing message during the welcoming program, Dr. Chavez expressed her gratitude to the UB administration and the CEAS faculty for supporting the internationalization efforts of the college.<em> \u201cThis partnership reminds us that education knows boundaries though we may come from different cultures and traditions, we share the same vision to nurture young minds and make a difference through teaching. May this exchange inspire us to embrace collaboration, openness and respect for diversity. Let this experience remind us that learning continues when we open our hearts to others.\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the continuing exchange, UBLC will also send six student interns to Vietnam this academic year under the same SEAMEO program, solidifying the university\u2019s role as a regional hub for global learning and cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through this initiative, CEAS reaffirms its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by providing transformative learning experiences that promote cross-cultural understanding, inclusivity, and educational innovation. This collaboration also underscores the University of Batangas\u2019 ongoing internationalization efforts, which aim to strengthen global linkages and academic mobility among partner institutions in Southeast Asia.
