Pangao, Ibaan, Batangas. Guided by the theme <em>\u201cReady, Set, Learn,\u201d <\/em>the initiative aimed to support young learners in an underserved community by equipping them with essential educational tools and fostering a positive attitude toward learning as they prepare for the upcoming school year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program, spearheaded by Computer Engineering students, was designed to address the immediate needs of children and families while creating a meaningful and engaging learning experience. Central to the initiative was the distribution of comprehensive learning kits, each containing notebooks, pencils, crayons, and other school essentials. These learning kits provided tangible support to the children and helped ease the financial burden of low-income families, enabling them to begin the school year better prepared and motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond the provision of materials, the program also promoted interactive and holistic learning. The student volunteers organized storytelling sessions, educational games, and collaborative workshops that encouraged creativity, participation, and enthusiasm for learning. The activities transformed the Day Care Center into a space of joy, inclusion, and curiosity, where children experienced the value of education in a fun and engaging way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Balik Eskwela Program embodied UBLC\u2019s ongoing mission to contribute to global and local development. It directly supported SDG 4 (Quality Education) by ensuring equitable access to learning resources and promoting early education readiness. The initiative also advanced SDG 1 (No Poverty) by reducing educational costs for families, while fostering SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by providing equal access to educational materials regardless of socioeconomic background. Furthermore, the collaboration between the university students and the Brgy. Pangao Day Care Center exemplified SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), highlighting the value of multi-sectoral cooperation in achieving shared developmental objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The outreach was more than just a distribution drive \u2013 it was an act of service, empathy, and empowerment. For the student volunteers, it served as an opportunity to embody the spirit of volunteerism, social responsibility, and civic engagement beyond the classroom.
