Demonstrating its growing influence in the field of research and innovation, the University of Batangas Lipa City (UBLC) proudly took part in the International Conference on Multidisciplinary Research Perspectives (ICMRP 2025), held from May 14 to 16, 2025, at Dwijendra University, Bali, Indonesia. The event was organized through the collaboration of Shinawatra University (Thailand), Dwijendra University (Indonesia), and ESN Publication (India), bringing together academicians, experts, and professionals from across Asia to exchange insights, best practices, and research advancements in a dynamic academic environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The international conference provided a global platform for scholars to engage in intellectual discourse through keynote addresses, panel discussions, poster sessions, and paper presentations covering a wide range of research disciplines. Delegates from India, Singapore, the Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia participated in the three-day gathering, which highlighted the importance of fostering cross-border collaboration and advancing multidisciplinary research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Representing UBLC, Dr. Pastor R. Arguelles Jr., Director of the Research and Publications Office, served as one of the Keynote Speakers, delivering a compelling address titled \u201cPublish, Perish, or Prosper: Rethinking Academic Success.\u201d In his keynote, Dr. Arguelles explored the growing challenges in academic publishing, emphasizing how the pressure to publish frequently\u2014often tied to reputation, funding, and career progression\u2014can compromise research quality and ethical standards. He cautioned against the potential consequences of \u201cpublish or perish\u201d culture, which may lead to rushed research, methodological shortcuts, and even data fabrication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Arguelles further elaborated on the \u201cCost of Perishing,\u201d shedding light on the societal and personal impact of neglecting mental health in academia. He underscored the importance of upholding ethical values such as honesty, fairness, accountability, and transparency in research, ensuring that scholarly outputs remain both credible and socially beneficial. His discussion resonated deeply with conference participants, reinforcing UBLC\u2019s commitment to responsible and purpose-driven research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beyond its keynote contribution, UBLC also presented four (4) research papers, two of which were recognized as Best Papers\u2014a milestone that affirms the institution\u2019s research excellence on an international scale. The award-winning studies include \u201cExploring the Narratives of LGBTQIA in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights\u201d by Mr. Jefferson Litan, Mr. Edmund Caraos, and Ms. Maria Luisa Velasco, and \u201cThe Utilization of Educational Technology in the Delivery of Instructions During the Pandemic\u201d by Dr. Kielly Chrizza Mae T. Lara, Engr. Charles Ray Juanillas, Engr. Gemma P. Ramos, and Mr. Russel G. Reyes. Both papers showcased innovative research approaches addressing timely and socially relevant issues in education and human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to these recognitions, Dr. Arguelles received the Best Academician Award under the Innovative Education Award 2025, honoring his exemplary leadership, dedication, and significant contributions to the academic and research community.
