Lipa City, Batangas – October 8, 2025. Student-athletes from the University of Batangas Lipa City (UBLC) proudly showcased their athletic prowess in the recently concluded Secondary District Sportsfest 2025, held from October 1 to 2 and 6 to 8, 2025, across various venues including Lumbang Integrated National High School, De La Salle Lipa, Brgy. Lumbang Gym, and STI Academic Center Lipa. The event brought together student-athletes from different schools in a spirited display of sportsmanship, discipline, and excellence.
Among the standout performances were the UBLC Volleyball Girls, led by Head Coach John Cleo P. Montero and Assistant Coach Rey Angelo U. Africa, who qualified for the Division Athletic Association Meet (DAAM) after an impressive showing throughout the tournament. Their qualification underscored UBLC’s continued strength and competitiveness in team sports.
In the Chess category, UBLC’s representatives made remarkable achievements under the guidance of Coach Allan D. Oseña. Noah Ezekiel M. Pon-an claimed Gold in the Standard event, while Herson S. Bangay secured Silver in Standard. Leanne Jane V. Brucal earned Silver in Rapid, and Julia Ann C. Tago-on won Bronze in Blitz. These victories brought pride to the university and qualified them for the DAAM, marking UBLC’s strong presence in the mental and strategic sport of chess.
The Badminton Boys and Girls Teams, coached by Yhayen M. Altajara, also displayed exceptional skill and determination. In the boys’ division, Vince Leonard A. Montealto and Lyndon Godfrey E. Ramos both finished as 2nd Place in Singles A and Singles B, respectively, while the duo of Andrei R. Amores and Reign Jocef A. Calingasan secured 4th Place in Doubles. On the girls’ side, Krissa Mae M. Mabiling achieved 3rd Place in Singles B, followed by notable finishes from Juliana Andrea A. Rayos (6th Place, Singles A) and Ashley Nina S. De Castro with Catherine Mae M. Olgado (6th Place, Doubles).
Meanwhile, the Volleyball Boys Team concluded their campaign with a commendable Rank 2 finish in Bracket C, showcasing teamwork and grit under high-level competition.
In Table Tennis, the UBLC contingent trained by Coach MJ H. Abriza also made significant strides. Elijah Marcus M. Panghulan secured 3rd Place in Boys’ Singles B, while Ralph Emir R. Canayon placed 4th in Singles A. The doubles pair Lei Arvin T. Briones and Benedict M. Carreon also earned 3rd Place, highlighting UBLC’s balance of talent across racket sports.
The consistent performance of UBLC student-athletes across multiple disciplines reflects the university’s commitment to developing well-rounded learners who excel both academically and athletically.
