Lipa City, Batangas – September 1, 2025. The University of Batangas Lipa City (UBLC) officially instated its newly-elected Student Government (SG) leaders for Academic Year 2025–2026 through an oath-taking ceremony held at Trattoria Lipeña.
The ceremony was graced by key university officials, including University President Lily Marlene J. Hernandez, Senior Vice President for Administration Mr. Alex A. Ramos, Student Affairs and External Programs Officer Mrs. Milette De Torres, UBLC Student Government Adviser Mr. Noelito Sales, and the Executive Assistant and UBBC Student Government Adviser Ms. Diane Gandeza-Landicho.
During the program, the SG officers, from the executive positions down to the college governors, were formally introduced and sworn into office. The event underscored the administration’s support for student leadership and its role in advancing student engagement, representation, and welfare across the university community.
In his inaugural message during the institutional flag ceremony, SG President Mr. Jhunnel Jeric S. Macaraig emphasized leadership as a responsibility rather than a title. He noted that the Student Government enters “a new season of service” dedicated not only to implementing projects but also to listening and standing alongside students. He stressed the importance of unity among leaders, students, teachers, and administrators in building a lasting and resilient community.
Following the oath-taking, a meeting between the SG and the university administration was held to discuss future plans and initiatives. The dialogue focused on strengthening collaboration, addressing student concerns, and ensuring the continued delivery of programs that promote student growth, faculty guidance, and institutional development.
When asked what the UBLC community can look forward to this academic year, Mr. Macaraig shared: “This academic year, students, faculty, and staff can expect events that highlight talents and skills across different fields and specialties, giving everyone the opportunity to shine. For our faculty and employees, we are preparing appreciation activities that recognize their hard work and contributions. To strengthen teamwork and unity, we will also promote sports and esports competitions. Beyond the campus, we will continue our outreach initiatives to extend the spirit of service to the community. Overall, our goal is to create a year that is inclusive, engaging, and meaningful for everyone.”
When further asked if the Student Government is preparing for something bigger in line with the upcoming 80th Founding Anniversary of the university in 2026, he added: “That is something to look forward to—and something worth waiting for.”
The inauguration of the new Student Government marks the beginning of another year of student leadership at UBLC, driven by the shared purpose of service, responsibility, and unity. As the university continues to uphold its mission of providing quality education and holistic development, the Student Government is set to play a vital role in shaping the UBLC community into one that thrives in the university’s core values: spirit, intellect, and purpose.
