The University of Batangas Lipa City (UBLC) proudly participated in the recently concluded 4th Philippine Intercollegiate Badminton Championships, held from September 5 to 7, 2025 at the MIA Badminton Center, Aurora Blvd., Maricaban, Pasay City. Both the UBLC Men’s and Women’s Badminton Teams, under the guidance of their coach Mr. Yhayen M. Altajara, showcased their talent, sportsmanship, and determination as they went head-to-head with some of the strongest collegiate athletes in the country.

The tournament was organized under the leadership of the Philippine Badminton Association (PBAD), the national governing body for badminton in the Philippines. Established in 1952 as the first national badminton group, PBAD continues to play a pivotal role in the promotion and regulation of the sport across the nation. Today, it is officially recognized by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), the Badminton World Federation (BWF), and Badminton Asia.

PBAD remains committed to its mission to regulate, promote, and develop badminton in the Philippines, while staying true to its vision of providing athletes with opportunities to maximize their potential and represent the country in both local and international tournaments. Its long-term goal is to create and develop world-class badminton athletes and coaches, ensuring that the Philippines continues to grow its presence in the sport. Through initiatives such as junior and open tournaments, PBAD provides platforms for competitive play for athletes of all ages, further strengthening the badminton community in the country.

UBLC’s participation in the intercollegiate badminton championships highlighted the skills of its student-athletes and reflected the university’s continued support for sports excellence, discipline, and holistic development. Guided by Coach Altajara, the UBLC Badminton Teams gained valuable experience in high-level competition, drawing inspiration from PBAD’s mission of uplifting the sport and developing athletes capable of reaching greater heights.
