In support of global efforts to promote psychological well-being, the University of Batangas (UB), through its Counseling and Psychological Wellness Center (CoPWell), spearheaded the celebration of World Mental Health Day 2024 with a series of engaging and meaningful activities that embodied the themes of hope, connection, and wellness.

Held in alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, the observance reaffirmed the University’s commitment to advancing holistic well-being and creating an inclusive environment where mental health is recognized as a vital part of everyday life.

The celebration featured several creative and interactive initiatives designed to promote awareness, encourage self-expression, and foster emotional resilience among students, faculty, and staff. One of the highlights was “The Blue Box of Hope” activity that gave participants an opportunity to share their aspirations for a mentally healthy community, cultivating a spirit of reflection and advocacy for collective well-being.

Adding a touch of warmth and encouragement, the “Chocolate for Guidance” initiative reminded the UBian community that small acts of kindness and compassion can greatly impact emotional support and morale. Complementing these symbolic gestures, the “Wear Blue for Mental Health” and “Light Up Blue” campaigns united the University community in solidarity with the worldwide movement to end the stigma surrounding mental health concerns.

To further emphasize the link between physical and psychological health, CoPWell also organized “Zumba Your Blues Away!” – an interactive fitness activity that encouraged movement, social connection, and stress relief, highlighting how physical wellness contributes to mental balance and happiness.

Through these well-planned initiatives, the University of Batangas continued to strengthen its advocacy for mental wellness as a cornerstone of education and personal growth. The celebration served as a timely reminder that mental health is not merely the absence of illness but the presence of compassion, understanding, and community support.

By integrating hope, connection, and wellness into the fabric of UB’s culture, CoPWell reaffirms its dedication to nurturing resilient and emotionally intelligent individuals, echoing the University’s mission to uphold a safe, caring, and empowering environment for all UBians.
