The University of Batangas Lipa City (UBLC) Senior High School proudly brought home major victories after securing top awards at the 44th Karibok ang Tuktok (KAT) 2025, held on November 15–16, 2025, a provincewide academic and creative competition organized by UP Batangan. The Sine Karibok team emerged as Champion in the Short Film Competition, while Ralf Raven Jay G. Bajeta from Grade 11 – TVL-HE clinched the Champion title in the Photo Essay Competition under the Senior High School category, marking UBLC’s strong performance in this year’s event.
Held annually by UP Batangan, a recognized academic and socio-civic organization in the University of the Philippines Diliman founded in 1976, KAT brings together the most talented Batangueño students across the province in a series of competitions designed to celebrate creativity, excellence, and scholastic achievement. The event traces its inspiration to the outstanding academic performance of Batangueños who have excelled at the country’s premier state university, with UP Batangan attributing such distinction to the strong scholastic foundations developed during high school.
This year’s competitions showcased how participants demonstrated mastery in their respective crafts. UBLC’s Sine Karibok team was recognized for its compelling storytelling and technical execution in short filmmaking, while Bajeta’s winning photo essay stood out for its thematic coherence, visual impact, and insightful narrative – qualities that affirmed the creativity and discipline of UBLC’s emerging young artists.
The school’s achievements highlight that UBLC continues to produce competent learners capable of excelling in regional and academic platforms: a commitment to fostering talent, creativity, and excellence among its Senior High School students. These wins also reflect the students’ dedication, hard work, and guided preparation contributed to their success in one of Batangas’ most respected youth competitions.
The recognition earned at KAT 2025 serves as a testament to UBLC’s growing culture of excellence and reinforces UP Batangan’s longstanding mission of uplifting Batangueño youth by providing avenues for academic and artistic expression. As the organization continues to celebrate the brilliance of young Batangueños, UBLC’s latest triumph stands as a proud example of the province’s emerging talents rising to the top.
Furthermore, this achievement demonstrates the University’s steadfast dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), particularly Quality Education (SDG 4) through equitable and inclusive learning opportunities; Gender Equality (SDG 5) by empowering all students regardless of gender to excel in creative and academic pursuits; Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10) by fostering platforms where talents from diverse backgrounds can thrive and be recognized; and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) by collaborating with organizations like UP Batangan to nurture youth excellence, reinforce socio-civic values, and cultivate a resilient community of future leaders. UBLC’s commitment to these global goals underscores how institutional initiatives and student accomplishments are harmoniously aligned with sustainable, transformative, and inclusive development.
