Lipa City, Batangas – October 10, 2025. Mr. Arjay G. Gonzales, Special Projects and Design Officer under the Center for Business and Innovation of the University of Batangas Lipa City (UBLC), has been elected as one of the Board of Directors of the Lipa City People’s Council (LCPC), representing the Rotary Club of Malarayat Premier. The election took place on October 10, 2025, during the council’s general assembly, which gathers accredited civil society organizations (CSOs) across the city to serve as a unified voice in local governance and development.

The Lipa City People’s Council serves as a collaborative platform between the local government and various civic, business, and professional organizations. Its main goal is to provide meaningful participation from different sectors in local policymaking, project planning, and community initiatives. Representatives from organizations such as the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), Rotary Clubs, and educational institutions are among the council’s active members. This year, Ms. Gwen Wong of PCCI was elected as the council’s president.

Mr. Gonzales’s election reflects his continuous commitment to community development and civic engagement. As a leader of the Rotary Club of Malarayat Premier, he upholds Rotary International’s long-standing principle of “Service Above Self,” fostering initiatives aligned with the organization’s seven areas of focus including Basic education and literacy, disease prevention and treatment, peacebuilding and conflict prevention, water, sanitation, and hygiene, maternal and child health, community economic development and environment.

Through his participation in the Local Development Council under the LCPC, Mr. Gonzales aims to extend Rotary’s advocacy and projects to complement the city’s ongoing development efforts. One of their key initiatives is the club’s adoption of Barangay Bulacnin as a “Heartwork Village project,” where they implement holistic and community-centered programs that address local needs through collaboration and service.

The Rotary Club of Malarayat Premier, chartered in November 2022 under Rotary International District 3820, continues to expand its impact in the province through projects that promote education, health, and civic responsibility. As its current president, Mr. Gonzales leads a team of dedicated professionals who embody the Rotary spirit through time, talent, and treasure – proving that service and innovation go hand in hand in building better communities.

For Mr. Gonzales, this election is more than a position – it is a call to strengthen civic collaboration between the University of Batangas Lipa City, the Rotary community, and the local government of Lipa City, all working together toward a shared goal: inclusive and sustainable city development.
