UBLC CEAS renews Bahay Aruga partnership for community service and student training

Lipa City, Batangas — August 13, 2025. The University of Batangas Lipa Campus (UBLC) renewed its Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Bahay Aruga, a rehabilitation and care facility managed by the Lipa City Government, on August 13, 2025, at the Office of the City Mayor. The renewed partnership reaffirms the University’s commitment to advancing community service, student training, and social welfare initiatives.

The agreement outlines UBLC’s continuing role in providing specialized services to Bahay Aruga, with faculty and students extending expertise in social work, education, and psychology. Among the initiatives under the MOA are training programs for Bahay Aruga staff, tailored educational programs for residents, consultancy services for rehabilitation, and community outreach activities that promote inclusivity and awareness.

Faculty members and students from the College of Education, Arts, and Sciences (CEAS) will also conduct workshops on literacy, numeracy, vocational training, and life skills. Additionally, the partnership provides avenues for collaborative research to evaluate program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

Present during the signing were Dr. Minerva Chavez, Dean of the College of Education, Arts, and Sciences; Ms. Rachelle Bedes, Faculty-in-Charge of the Social Work Program; and Ms. Shiela Mea L. Rodriguez, College Secretary, along with representatives from the Lipa City Government and Bahay Aruga. Their presence underscored the shared vision of strengthening rehabilitation and social integration programs.

This renewed partnership demonstrates UBLC’s steadfast commitment to its mission of fostering academic excellence, community service, and social responsibility. Moving forward, both institutions aim to further develop innovative and sustainable programs that benefit Bahay Aruga residents while enriching the experiential learning of UBLC students.
