The event brought together regional member schools for a powerful celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and institutional pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As UB approaches its 80th Founding Anniversary, hosting the opening of NCAA South Season 27 highlights the university\u2019s enduring legacy of greatness \u2013 demonstrating that UB excels not only in academic undertakings but also in athletic initiatives that promote holistic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ceremony formally opened with the parade of athletes, coaches, participating member schools, policy board, and management committee, celebrating the collective strength of NCAA South institutions. Participating schools included Colegio de San Juan de Letran \u2013 Calamba, De La Salle Lipa, Emilio Aguinaldo College \u2013 Cavite, FAITH Colleges, Lyceum of the Philippines University\u2013Batangas, San Beda College Alabang, San Pablo Colleges, Trace College, University of Perpetual Help System Laguna, Philippine Christian University, and the University of Batangas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UB Chorale led the invocation and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, grounding the event in reverence, unity, and national pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To continue the program, the UB Cultural Group energized the gymnasium with an opening production number featuring performers from the UB Grade School, High School, and Higher Education levels. The presentation showcased UB\u2019s holistic goals, which continue to shape true-blooded UBians through talent development across generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UB President Lily Marlene J. Hernandez-Bohn delivered the welcome message, emphasizing the importance of discipline and values formation among student-athletes and the role of sports in strengthening inter-institutional collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs we open this new season, may we be reminded that every game played and every challenge faced is an opportunity to grow \u2013 both on and off the court.\u201d said UB President Hernandez-Bohn. She added, \u201cMay we compete with honor and uplift one another through the true spirit of sportsmanship.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Christopher V. Quizon introduced the guest speaker, Shaina Nitura, Outside Spiker of Alas Pilipinas and the Adamson Lady Falcons. In her message, Nitura inspired student-athletes to pursue excellence with discipline, resilience, and determination, while sharing insights into the realities of student-athlete life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo my co-athletes, let our mind, heart, and body play as one for our school [or] <em>kapag nasa puso natin ang ginagawa natin, <\/em>our mind and body will follow and our mind will never find it hard to do things that must be done,\u201d said Ms. Nitura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an exclusive interview later, Nitura emphasized the vital role of educational institutions \u2013 such as UB, now nearing its 80th Founding Anniversary \u2013 in integrating sports development into quality education to support students\u2019 holistic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>Nakakapagod mag-aral<\/em>, so when you put enjoyment [in] it, which is <em>itong <\/em>sports \u2013 <em>\u2018yon \u2018yung nagpapalagy ng buhay para magpatuloy \u2018yong mga bata <\/em>and opportunity <em>din doon sa mga <\/em>unfortunate <em>na [\u2018di kayang matustusan ang pag-aaral] dahil <\/em>financially unstable \u2013 <em>nakakatulong din kasi <\/em>they get scholarship in terms of playing <em>bukod sa masaya sila sa ginagawa nila<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nitura also highlighted the importance of humility and sportsmanship among student-athletes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHumility and sportsmanship<em> na marunong tumanggap ng pagkatalo [at] pagkakamali sa lahat ng bagay<\/em> \u2013 <em>sa pagkakamali ng <\/em>teammates <em>mo<\/em>, <em>sa pagkakamali mo. Papasok na rin kasi doon ang pasensya sa sarili mo<\/em>,\u201d said Nitura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UB Dance Company and UB Pep Squad energized the audience during the intermission, followed by a tutorial of the UB war cry, UB\u2019s mighty sports chant, which encouraged crowd participation and school spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UBVT Co-Captain Benjamin Manansala Jr. led the Oath of Sportsmanship, reaffirming fairness, respect, and integrity among all competitors. Team captains from NCAA South member schools then joined in the lighting of the torch, symbolizing unity, passion, and the shared pursuit of victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most awaited moment, Atty. Jesus V.
