The University of Batangas Batangas City Campus Junior High School Dream Schoolers showcased their ingenuity and social awareness through groundbreaking research proposals on accessibility and sustainability at the 2024 SPARKS Competition: Inter-Senior High Student Research Proposal Elevator Pitching Competition, held at Batangas State University \u2013 Pablo Borbon Campus on November 9, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The team presented two inventive projects designed to address pressing global challenges. The first proposal, \u201cSee Through Sound: Design of a Sunglasses Device with Image-to-Speech Interface for the Visually Impaired,\u201d introduces a transformative assistive technology that converts visual information into auditory cues. This device aims to empower visually impaired individuals by enhancing mobility, independence, and interaction with their surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second project, \u201cDevelopment of an Integrated Waste-to-Energy System Using Paper and Banana Peel Briquettes for Rural Communities,\u201d offers an innovative and sustainable approach to waste management and energy production. By converting organic waste into briquettes, the project promotes renewable energy use, supports local economic development, and helps reduce environmental pollution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The students\u2019 dedication and creativity earned them remarkable recognition at the competition: Second Place for Theme 2: Quality Education and Lifelong Learning<\/em> (See Through Sound) and Third Place for Theme 5: Economic Growth and Prosperity<\/em> (Waste-to-Energy System).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The UBBC JHS Dream Schoolers expressed heartfelt gratitude to their Research Coach, Mrs. Ann Rovic P.
