The University of Batangas Batangas City (UBBC) Junior High School (JHS) reaffirmed its commitment to quality education through a week-long series of teacher training seminars and workshops held from June 23 to 27, 2025, at Room G-208, UBBC JHS Building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Led by Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs Mr. Michael Justin C. de Mesa and English Department Head Ms. Ne\u00f1a Porcino, the capacity-building series aimed to enhance teachers\u2019 competence in PISA- and DOST-aligned instructional strategies, assessment design, and proofreading fundamentals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative provided teachers with innovative tools and global insights aligned with the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) standards and Department of Science and Technology (DOST) recommendations. Through interactive discussions, group reflections, and practical workshops, participants strengthened their approaches to developing students\u2019 reading, writing, and mathematical literacy\u2014skills vital to 21st-century learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On June 23, Mr. De Mesa facilitated the \u201cSeminar-Workshop on DOST and PISA-like Enrichment Activities and Strategies,\u201d where he emphasized how effective instruction fosters problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking. Teachers analyzed national PISA results and explored fifty classroom-ready strategies tailored to diverse learning contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the afternoon, faculty members showcased their creativity in a \u201cSharing of Best Practices\u201d activity, performing short skits that illustrated real classroom challenges and their corresponding PISA- and DOST-aligned solutions. The exercise encouraged cross-departmental collaboration and the exchange of effective teaching techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The learning sessions continued on June 25 with the \u201cSeminar on DOST- and PISA-Aligned Assessments,\u201d also led by Mr. De Mesa. He highlighted the principles of validity, reliability, and fairness in assessments, guiding teachers in transforming traditional test items into real-world, problem-based tasks consistent with international benchmarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That same afternoon, Ms. Porcino led \u201cProofreading Basics: The Fundamentals of Proofreading,\u201d a hands-on workshop focused on producing clear, accurate, and error-free test items. Teachers practiced proofreading techniques that help prevent misinterpretation and ensure fairness in evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The training series culminated in a \u201cDemo Fiesta\u201d held virtually via Google Meet on June 26\u201327, 2025. Teachers from various departments presented engaging strategies for teaching key topics from the Student Handbook through role plays, musical performances, and interactive activities\u2014showcasing creativity and collaboration in both traditional and online learning environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn and grow together, noting how the sessions strengthened both their professional skills and sense of unity as educators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
