Dr. Hernando B. Perez, President Emeritus and member of the Board of Regents of the University of Batangas (UB), celebrated 50 years of service in the legal profession and received the Golden Pillar of Law Award from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) during a ceremony at the Hall of Justice, Batangas City, on September 15, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At 86 years old, Dr. Perez reflected on his lifelong dedication: \u201cI\u2019ve been teaching for so long. I left Ateneo to teach here\u2013to establish a law school in Batangas\u2013to help the people of Batangas become lawyers,\u201d he recalled, emphasizing his decades of service in the name of justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his early efforts to support aspiring Batangue\u00f1o lawyers, Dr. Perez sought the help of Atty. Antonio \u201cTonying\u201d Pastor to secure a space for the Hall of Justice. While he humbly asked for a lot at the back, Atty. Pastor generously granted him the front portion of land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He concluded his acceptance speech with a heartfelt message: \u201cKung kailangan niyo pa rin ng tulong namin ni Tonying, habang buhay, handa kaming tumulong sa inyo; handa kaming tumulong sa <\/em>Integrated Bar; at tumulong sa <\/em>Batangue\u00f1o.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The IBP honored Dr. Perez for five decades of unwavering dedication to upholding justice with integrity and principle. His lifelong commitment to the legal profession stands as a source of inspiration for colleagues, young lawyers, and the broader legal community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sharing the honor with him, Atty.
