A total of 16 for Grade School and 50 from High School of University of Batangas Basic Education campus journalists have once again proven their dominance, securing a total of 66 qualifiers for the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) after a triumphant performance at the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) held on November 12-14, 2024, in Batangas City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For school paper adviser Dr. Carl Ivan Villanueva, this victory not only underscored the university\u2019s excellence in journalism and communication but also serves as a testament to the outstanding talent of its students in various writing and broadcasting categories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt was not easy; not even the amount of preparation and effort we poured on could give assurance that we would be able to secure tickets to the regionals, but they did it! They made it again!\u201d Villanueva said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Outshining more than 2,000 participants from both public and private schools, UB\u2019s campus journalists bagged the highest number of gold awards, showcasing their exceptional skills in writing and broadcasting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Journalist\u2019s View<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Among the 66 qualifiers is Princess Babasa, a first-time journalist who expressed her shock and excitement upon hearing her name called. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “For me, journalism symbolizes the power of knowledge and passion. Kaya as a first time lang lumaban, I was not expecting na I’ll be included or will be part of the RSPC qualifier so when I heard my name, I was really shocked tapos nanginginig at naiiyak sa tuwa that time,” she shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Looking ahead to the RSPC, Babasa attributed her success to the advice and training she received, particularly from experienced writers and the school\u2019s dedicated coaching program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “RSPC is really big thing so I think mas paghuhusayan ko pa na bumuo ng isang winning article and paglalaanan ng oras ang pagiging updated sa mga isyu or balita. I know it’s a huge responsibility, but I’m honored, and I do believe that we, campus journalists here in UB, will always continue this legacy,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Looking Ahead to RSPC and NSPC<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n With the regional qualifiers secured, Villanueva expected that many of the RSPC qualifiers will continue their stellar performances and further elevate the university\u2019s standing in the regional and national press competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNow, onto a tighter competition to the regionals, we can only do more but prepare, train again and again, and hope for the best,\u201d Villanueva remarked. <\/p>\n\n\n\n As UB celebrates its latest triumph in the DSPC, the university solidified its position as a powerhouse in student journalism, and the
