Students from the University of Batangas (UB) College of Business, Accountancy, and Hospitality Management (CBAHM) Department showcased speed, balance, and professional skill during the College Division – Sprint Female and Relay events of the Batangas Waiter’s Race, held on December 7, 2025, at The Batangas Lakelands in Balete, Lipa City.
In the Female Category, Jhen Shaira Borbon, a Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management (BS IHM) student, represented UB with a strong and composed performance, demonstrating precision and confidence under competitive conditions. Her participation highlighted the practical competencies developed through UB’s hospitality training programs.
UB also fielded a competitive lineup in the Male Category, led by Neil Ian Fajarito of BS IHM with Specialization in Cruiseline Operations (BS IHMCO), alongside Erica Mae Greña of BS IHM and Felix Dalanon of BS IHMCO. The team displayed coordination, agility, and discipline, reflecting the professional standards expected in real-world hospitality and food service operations.
The participation of UB’s BS IHM students emphasized the importance of experiential learning in hospitality education, where classroom instruction directly translates into industry-relevant skills. Events such as the Batangas Waiter’s Race allow students to apply service techniques, teamwork, and time management in high-pressure environments.
This achievement supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening applied learning and industry-aligned training, and Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by preparing future hospitality professionals with competencies essential for employment in tourism and service sectors.
