Two Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) student teams from the University of Batangas (UB) College of Engineering (CENG) earned 2nd Place Overall and Special Recognition for Best Aesthetics in the 32nd Bridge Building Competition during the 24th National Civil Engineering Students’ Conference and Student Competition held in Quezon City from November 24 to 25, 2025.

UB Team 1 consisted of Shannah Allyza Chica, Johnbert Bartolome, Faye Desiree Dimaculangan, and Myk Lester Hernandez, with Engr. Neil Graham Bhel Garcia, UB Civil Engineering faculty member, serving as team coach. Team 2 included Kharel Eiana dela Roca, Jack Hermidilla, Jon Alecks Norcio, and James Salvador, with Engr. Jen Marciel Soriano, also a UB Civil Engineering faculty member, serving as coach.

Both teams represented the College of Engineering in the structural design and model bridge – testing competition, where participants constructed model bridges that underwent evaluation based on strength, efficiency, and design quality. The UB teams’ performance demonstrated technical competence and adherence to engineering principles throughout the two-day event.

The achievement supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by highlighting the university’s efforts to provide practical, hands-on learning experiences that strengthen engineering skills. It also aligns with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) as the competition promotes innovation, problem-solving, and foundational knowledge for future infrastructure development.
