Reading is rewarding – the University of Batangas (UB) Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) Departments earned multiple awards at the Readers Cup 2025 held at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria on October 15, 2025.
In recognition of their commitment to fostering a culture of reading, UB SHS Department reaped remarkable achievements, winning 1st Place in the Reading Pro Award for Senior High School, Highest Reading Proficiency Award for Senior High School, Highest Lexile Growth Award.
SHS Principal Dr. Augusto Africa, Assistant Principal Mrs. Shiela A. Aguba, and Substitute of the Languages Department Mrs. Jocelyn Quiddam received the trophies on behalf of the department.
“We always encourage our students to read books,” said Mrs. Quiddam. “When we are assessing our students’ reading ability, it always comes out that they are beyond qualified,” she added.
Adding to UB’s literary triumphs, the UB JHS Department secured 3rd Place in the Reading Pro Award for Junior High School. JHS Principal Hilaria Guico, JHS Assistant Principal Mr. Michael Justin C. De Mesa, and Faculty Member Ms. Neña Angel C. Porcino accepted the recognition.
Crowning the celebration, the UB Dream Schools also received the Scholastic Readers Cup Achievement Award, marking another milestone in the university’s continuous pursuit of academic excellence.
Scholastic Philippines organized the meaningful event with the theme Hop On: Where Inspired Learning Fuels the Future.
