Fostering practical learning and community spirit – The University of Batangas (UB) College of Business, Accountancy, and Hospitality Management (CBAHM) partnered with Bangko Kabayan to spearhead a seminar-workshop for micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) owners in Batangas City. The event took place at the UB CCELL Training Center, Vicente A. Mayo (VAM) Corporate Center, from November 6 to 8, 2025.
“Since the Business Administration and Entrepreneurship programs of the University of Batangas share the same goal of promoting sustainability, we partnered with Bangko Kabayan to bring this project to life,” said CBAHM Project Coordinator Ms. Maru Babes G. Santiago. She added, “Through this collaboration, Batch 29 of Entrep-Eskwela marked the first-ever run in Batangas City.”
The program served as a grassroots entrepreneurship management seminar-workshop that provided participants with practical insights into business management. It also featured interactive activities that reignited their passion for learning.
“The seminar-workshop covered topics such as developing an entrepreneurial mindset, marketing, operations management, and financial management. It also included hands-on activities such as basic bookkeeping and business plan development,” Ms. Santiago said.
CBAHM Dean Mr. Erwin Lumanglas, Mr. Dexter Villas, and Ms. Santiago actively participated in the sessions. Mr. John Rey Banlasan joined the graduation ceremony to celebrate the participants’ achievements.
Representatives from Bangko Kabayan included CSRS Department Head and Entrep-Eskwela Facilitator Ms. Gloria Gonzalvo, Roving IF CRS and Entrep-Eskwela Facilitator Mr. Gerneil Rivera, Branch Manager of Batangas City Branch and Entrep-Eskwela Overall Coordinator Ms. Zyra Plata, Cluster 1 Area Manager and Entrep-Eskwela Program Coordinator Mr. Ferdinand Martinez, Remedial Management Department Head and Entrep-Eskwela Project Leader Ms. Jayleen Regero, and IF Team Leader Cluster 1 and Entrep-Eskwela Presenter of IF Products Ms. Senda Atienza.
The organizers will conduct random follow-up visits to participants’ businesses to evaluate their progress and provide ongoing guidance and support.
The participants, residents of Barangay Gulod Labak, Batangas City, joined the program through the coordination of Barangay Captain Hon. Martbein Macalalad.
