Ms. Sofia April Hernandez and Mrs. Greslie Gail A. Pepito, a faculty member of the University of Batangas (UB) College of Business, Accountancy, and Hospitality Management (CBAHM), published their paper in the International Journal of Environmental Sciences (IJES) – a Scopus-indexed journal–-on August 11, 2025.
Their research, Disaster and Risk Reduction Practices Among Employees of Accredited Hotels and Restaurants in Batangas Province: Basis for Disaster Management Plan, reveals that accredited hotels and restaurants in Batangas practice disaster risk reduction management in prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery to a great extent. However, the study also identifies notable gaps, including limited emergency funds, lack of disaster literacy, and insufficient mental health support. To address the challenges, the researchers recommend strengthening and implementing a comprehensive disaster management plan to address the mentioned gaps.
