A festival of medals – the University of Batangas (UB) College of Business, Accountancy, and Hospitality Management (CBAHM) brought pride to the university after winning several awards at the 17th National Tourism and Hospitality Students’ Congress and Skills Olympics held at Treston International College, Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig on October 2 – 3, 2025.
Aienah-Kae L. Lirio and Lance Gabriel Tacut, both 2nd Year Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) students, emerged as 1st Runner-Up in the Flight Attendant Showmanship and Emergency Procedures category.
“We had a two-week preparation period,” shared Lirio. “We practiced synchronizing our presentation, ensuring our actions and words were perfectly timed – trusting each other’s strengths and weaknesses allowed us to shine individually and as a team,” she added.
Their coach, Mrs. Arian May T. Esguerra, MBM, CGSP, praised the duo’s commitment and professionalism.
“During our training in our airplane mock-up facility, they were always punctual, receptive to feedback, and eager to practice, even beyond the scheduled training hours,” she said. “They displayed confidence, teamwork, and grace under pressure, which truly reflected the values and discipline expected from future flight attendants.”
Mrs. Esguerra also expressed appreciation to Dr. Erwin Lumanglas, Dean of CBAHM Department, for providing essential training equipment such as seatbelts, life vests, and oxygen tanks to help the students prepare effectively.
Meanwhile, Jam Madeleine S. Sulit secured 2nd Place in the Quiz Bee under the coaching of Mr. Michael Dennis Estigoy.
In the Tour Package Proposal (Domestic) category, Charizca A. Ramirez and Joseph Andrie Reglos won 2nd Runner-Up under the supervision of Ms. Ericka Ramirez and Ms. Sofia April Hernandez.
Adding to the list of wins, Gabriela Mae D. Manalo earned 3rd Runner-Up in Travel Photography under the guidance of Ms. Ramirez, while Alyzza Isabel P. Panapanaan and Jom Adryan B. Baculi achieved 4th Runner-Up in the Poster-Making and Slogan category with the coaching of Mr. Estigoy.
“Their commitment to learning and their genuine desire to bring pride to the University truly reflected the values we aim to instill in our students,” shared Mr. Estigoy.
The Union of Filipino Tourism Educators, Inc. (UFTE) organized the event with the theme, Fostering 21st Century Competencies and ASEAN-Recognized Skills Aligned with Global Standards for Inclusive and Sustainable Development.
