On August 14, 2025, more than 3,000 Basic Education students of the University of Batangas (UB) filled the UB Millenium Campus for UBBC Basic Ed 2025: Stronger Together, Wiser Forever, themed With Every Learner We Welcome, We Build a Future of Excellence — UBBC Basic Ed, Your Dream School.
The celebration opened at 8:58 a.m. with Master of Ceremony Julius Ceazar D. Ayala leading the prayer, national anthem, and UB anthem. A colorful showcase followed, featuring the Indayog Kultura Dance Company, High School Dance Troupe, UB Brahman Pep Squad, Grade School Subli Dancers, and Grade School Dancers.
Basic Education Director and Senior High School Principal Dr. Augusto C. Africa, welcomed guests and acknowledged the presence of the university president, Lily Marlene Hernandez-Bohn; Junior High School Principal, Dr. Hilaria A. Guico; and Grade School Principal, Jonathan J. Ramirez. He highlighted the growth and resilience of the Basic Education department from 2021 to the present.
The University President Hernandez-Bohn reaffirmed UB’s mission to deliver quality education, teasing that the space of Millenium Campus is not enough to accommodate the university’s growing family. She proudly added, “UB stands for two things: University of Batangas and Undeniably the Best”.
Meanwhile, Atty. Jesus V. Mayo, Chairman of the Board of Regents, shared his success as a UB alumnus. He thanked students for their trust, urged parents to encourage participation in competitions and cultural groups, and praised the faculty members as the “lifeline” of the institution. “UB is one big family,” he said, emphasizing that UB is not just a school, but a home.
Lively moments filled the rest of the morning from Bring Me and Pinaka games to a spirited performance of the UB Basic Education jingle. Organizers announced TikTok Challenge winners from Grade School, JHS, and SHS, followed by an energizer activity. A special presentation by Mr. Ramirez, Dr. Guico, and Dr. Africa—enhanced with AI-produced videos—drew cheers, as did a surprise audio-visual birthday tribute to Dr. Africa.
In the end, the UB mascot, Brahmmy, joined the community for the UB chant and hymn along with President Hernandez-Bohn and Basic Education Principals. The celebration officially concluded at 10:38 a.m., leaving a strong sense of pride and camaraderie among students and faculty.
