The University of Batangas (UB) College of Business, Accountancy, and Hospitality Management (CBAHM) faculty member took pride in the 13th International Conference on Business, Accounting, Finance, and Economics (BAFE) as Best Presenter together with the successful presentations of other faculty researchers, held online on October 22, 2025.
Mr. Dexter T. Villas, MBA, MPA received the Best Presenter recognition award with their research paper titled Assessment of Service Quality Dimensions and Student’s Satisfaction in Using E-Payment Services of University of Batangas – Batangas Campus. Their research discusses the The study emphasized the need for clear security standards, proper staff training, and the establishment of policies that ensure reliable and user-friendly digital payment systems.
“I also made sure to connect my presentation to real-world relevance. My research topic gave me the confidence to address students’ needs in using technology for e-payment systems, which helped me communicate with confidence and authenticity before an international audience,” said Mr. Villas.
Together with Mr. Villas are Trizhamae Charlotte A. Cabael, Irene S. Castillo, Mark Vincent D. Comendador, Abby Keziah M. Ilagan, and Eunice Hanjin Mae M. Sagala as researchers for the insightful paper.
Adding to Mr. Villas’ achievement, CBAHM faculty member Ms. Gorgonia Lopez-Famadico, LPT, MBA, MPA, MAED presented their study entitled The Differences in Management Strategies among LGBTQ+ Small Business Entrepreneurs in Batangas City. Using Henri Fayol’s five functions of management—planning, organizing, commanding, coordinating, and controlling—the research revealed significant differences in management strategies among respondents. These variations highlight the diverse approaches employed by LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs in running their businesses. Completing the team behind the research are Erika B. Castillo, Maria Janna Ysabel B. Del Prado, and Herson C. Ranay.
In the presentation of the study Personal and Professional Competencies and Productivity of Employees in the Local Government Units of Batangas City: Basis for Proposed Programs, Mrs. Leove G. Mutiangpili represented the research team. The study revealed that employees of the Local Government Units (LGUs) in Batangas City demonstrated high levels of personal and professional competencies, particularly in the realistic, social, and conventional traits. These competencies were found to have a significant positive relationship with productivity indicators such as task complexity, commitment, and challenge. Together with Mrs. Mutiangpili are Marinella A. Ilagan and Marian Angeli C. Reyes behind the research.
Moreover, Mrs. Angelica Evangelista presented their study, Impact of Electronic Wallet as Payment System in Selected Micro Enterprises in Batangas City, which revealed that micro enterprises, particularly beauty salons, have widely adopted GCash as their primary electronic wallet with the majority of businesses operating for 1-5 years. The study also revealed that the type of e-wallet used (GCash or Maya) had no significant effect on business performance, suggesting that overall digital literacy and infrastructure are more critical than brand differences. Along with Mrs. Evangelista are Wincel Fae E. Caseda, Cameron U. De Leon, Ralph Darren G. Palicpic, and Prince Jhonson M. Pornobi.
