Coming home triumphants – students from the University of Batangas (UB) College of Business, Accountancy, and Hospitality Management (CBAHM) showcased excellence and innovation at the 3rd CODEB4A Open Business Competition, held on January 23, 2026, at the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Calamba.

UB CBAHM secured the Champion title in the Business Plan Competition – Product Category, highlighting the university’s strong commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-relevant education. The winning team consisted of Keith Samantha Noche and Jules Zandleir Corpuz, both Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Major in Marketing Management students (BSBA – Major in Marketing Management), alongside Kienna Irish Sulit and Chelzie Sandoval, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) students. The team developed a product-based business proposal that impressed judges through its market viability, strategic planning, and financial soundness.

In addition to the championship win, UB CBAHM also earned 3rd Place in the Business Plan Competition – Service Category. The service-category team included Nathan Maranan, Faith Montescalos, Jovriel Joaquin Gunay, and Jonathan Escalona, all Bachelor of Science in Business Management (BSBM) students. The group presented a service-oriented business plan that demonstrated strong operational planning, customer focus, and sustainability potential.

Mrs. Maru G. Santiago, a faculty member of the BSBA program, coached both teams and guided them throughout the competition. Her mentorship played a key role in strengthening the students’ analytical, strategic, and presentation skills.

UB’s performance at the competition directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting experiential and outcomes-based learning, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and job-creating business ideas. The students’ business proposals also align with SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, as they emphasize creative solutions and sustainable business models.
