The University of Batangas (UB) Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) College of Business, Accountancy, and Hospitality Management (CBAHM) faculty published a new study in the International Journal of Environmental Sciences (IJES) on November 8, 2025.
The research was authored by Dr. Imelda M. De los Reyes, Director of ETEEAP; Dr. Christer A. Lopez, Assistant Director and faculty member of ETEEAP; and Dr. Niña B. Macarandang, a faculty member of both ETEEAP and CBAHM. Their study, Exploring the Interrelationships of Organizational Resilience, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery, examines the unique challenges UB faced over the past three years, including typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The findings identified the pandemic as the most disruptive disaster affecting the university’s operations. Based on their analysis, the researchers developed a “proposed university organizational resilience plan,” which they assert can make UB agile in addressing and managing disruptions while maintaining operational functions for all stakeholders.
In addition, the study highlights how the university’s engagement in global research initiatives and international collaborations contributes to its internationalization efforts. By sharing insights on disaster resilience with a wider academic audience, UB strengthens its global presence, fosters cross-cultural learning, and promotes partnerships that enhance both faculty and student development in an interconnected world.
The study recommends implementing the proposed plan to evaluate its effectiveness and serve as a foundation for future research.
