4th out of 431 participants: UB JHS jumps high at the PAMES Casio Math Challenge

The University of Batangas (UB) Junior High School (JHS) student ranked 4th in the PAMES Casio Math Challenge+ (PCMC+) under Category B – Private and Science Schools from the National Capital Region (NCR) and other participating regions, held on October 25, 2025, at the Senate President Neptali A. Gonzales (SPNAG) campus in Mandaluyong City.

With pride, Ranz Jermhel S. Solis from Grade 9 – Avogadro earned the 4th Place distinction under the coaching of Mathematics Teacher Mrs. Mina Belda from the JHS Department.

“Our department aims to prepare our students for nationwide competitions because we believe that confidence grows inside the classroom and flourishes even more outside,” said Mathematics Department Head Dr. Famela Q. Barairo.

Dr. Barairo also emphasized that they instill sportsmanship and a growth mindset in students, as these are essential attributes for their holistic development.

The department is currently awaiting CASIO’s confirmation regarding Solis’ qualification for the Finals Round on March 14, 2026.

The Philippine Association of Mathematics Educators and Specialists (PAMES) spearheaded the national-level mathematics competition in collaboration with CASIO Education Philippines, aiming to promote the development and application of higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) in solving mathematical problems through the use of scientific calculators, particularly the CASIO fx-570ES PLUS – C
