The University of Batangas (UB) Junior High Dream Schoolers have once again demonstrated their exceptional talent and dedication, securing top honors at the highly competitive 2024 SPARKS Competition: Inter-Senior High Student Research Proposal Elevator Pitching Competition at Batangas State University – Pablo Borbon campus on November 9, 2024.
Their hard work and unwavering commitment to excellence truly paid off, as the UBBC Junior High Dream Schoolers garnered significant recognition for their groundbreaking projects:
SECOND PLACE for Theme 2: Quality Education and Lifelong Learning was awarded for their inventive proposal, “See Through Sound: Design of a Sunglasses Device with Image-to-Speech Interface for the Visually Impaired.” This remarkable project aimed to empower visually impaired individuals by providing them with a revolutionary tool that translates visual information into auditory cues, significantly enhancing their ability to navigate and interact with their environment. The innovation promises to open new avenues for accessibility and independent living, reflecting a deep commitment to inclusive education and improved quality of life.
Furthermore, the team secured THIRD PLACE for Theme 5: Economic Growth and Prosperity with their compelling project titled, “Development of an Integrated Waste-to-Energy System Using Paper and Banana Peel Briquettes for Rural Communities.” This environmentally conscious and economically viable solution addresses critical issues of waste management and energy generation in rural areas. By transforming common organic waste into a valuable energy source, the students have presented a sustainable model that can foster local economic development, reduce pollution, and provide much-needed energy resources to underserved communities.
