The Association of Legal Management Majors (ALMMa) of the University of Batangas (UB), under the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), conducted a seminar on the Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) Law for community members and officials of Barangay Tinga Labac on November 27, 2023.
The initiative, organized in partnership with the Student Affairs and External Programs (SAEP), aimed to strengthen local governance and promote accessible justice at the community level.
Atty. Ronel Marcelo, Program Head of BS Legal Management, served as the resource speaker. He discussed the rights and responsibilities of citizens under the KP Law, emphasizing the importance of effective dispute resolution and cost-efficient legal practices in fostering community harmony.
According to organizers, the seminar enhanced the participants’ understanding of the Katarungang Pambarangay system, particularly among lupon members, tanods, and barangay officials. Attendees gained practical skills in mediation and conflict resolution, increasing their confidence in addressing local disputes.
The event also strengthened coordination between UB and the local government, highlighting the university’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and legal literacy.
The program concluded with the distribution of certificates and the oath-taking of newly appointed lupon members, marking another milestone in UB’s efforts to empower communities through education and service.
