A Grade 3 pupil from the University of Batangas (UB) delivered an impressive performance at the 21st PKTS Open Karate Championship, held on November 22, 2025, at Robinson’s Metro East in Pasig City.
Ryu M. Garcia, a Grade 3 – Newton learner, captured the Silver Medal in the 8–9 Years Old Open Kumite category, demonstrating speed, discipline, and competitive focus against skilled opponents. He also secured Bronze Medals in both the 8–9 Years Old Advance Kata and Open Kata events, highlighting his technical precision and mastery of fundamental karate forms.
Garcia’s podium finishes underscored UB’s commitment to nurturing young athletes through structured training and character development. His achievement reflected the value of early exposure to competitive sports, which strengthens confidence, discipline, and resilience among learners.
The milestone supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, as it promotes physical fitness, active lifestyles, and positive youth development through sports participation.
