SEOUL, South Korea – Engineers from the University of Batangas (UB) Civil Engineering (CE) Department elevated the university’s presence on the international stage by presenting their research on innovative educational strategies at the 22nd Science Council of Asia (SCA) Conference. The prestigious event was held from October 19-21, 2023, at Seoul National University.

The conference, which operated under the theme “Science for Sustainability, Resilience, and Human Well-Being,” gathered leading scientists, researchers, and policymakers to discuss global sustainability challenges in line with the 2030 Agenda. The event was a joint effort by the SCA, the National Academy of Sciences, Republic of Korea, and the Korean Academy of Science and Technology, and featured an address by Ban Ki-moon, the 8th UN Secretary-General.

Representing the University of Batangas, Engr. SiddArtha Valle and Engr. Lailanie Luna presented their study titled, “Innovative strategies for attaining civil engineering capstone design objectives in the era of digital education.”

Their research detailed the successful implementation of computer-aided design (CAD) and cloud-based applications to facilitate undergraduate capstone projects at a private higher education institution in Batangas City. This study was particularly relevant as it focused on educational delivery during the pandemic-induced lockdown restrictions.

Engr. Valle and Engr. Luna shared their findings during a dedicated poster session on “Education in the Digital Transformation Era.” They engaged actively with conference attendees, facilitating meaningful discussions on their methodology and results.

UB’s participation in this major international conference is a significant step toward enhancing its reputation for innovative educational practices and is expected to foster new opportunities for global networking and academic collaboration.
