UB CAS faculty present interdisciplinary research at Synergy International Conference 2025

Faculty members from the University of Batangas (UB) College of Arts and Social Sciences (CAS) presented interdisciplinary research during Synergy: International Conference on Innovation and Interdisciplinary Integration in Business, Humanities, Law, Criminal Justice, Science, Engineering, and Communication Technologies, held on November 20, 2025, at the UB Lipa City Campus.

Dr. Kristine Amor S. Catequista of the CAS Languages Department presented “Rhetorical Devices and Persuasive Appeals in the Speeches of Donald Trump: Basis for Proposed Learning Materials in Purposive Communication.” The study analyzed rhetorical strategies in selected political speeches and used the findings to develop instructional materials that strengthen rhetorical awareness, ethical persuasion, and critical thinking in communication courses.

Dr. Mary Ann B. Macatangay of the CAS Political Science Department presented “Service Delivery and Stakeholders’ Satisfaction in the Public Market Office of Batangas City: Basis for Policy Enhancement.” The research assessed stakeholder satisfaction using mixed methods and proposed policy enhancements to improve transparency, service quality, and participatory governance in public market administration.

Dr. Agnes L. Tadia of the CAS Languages Department presented “From Bars to Bubbles: How Soap Kits Initiatives Spark Changes at Batangas Provincial Jail, Philippines.” The study examined the impact of hygiene interventions on health, dignity, and well-being among Persons Deprived of Liberty and recommended strategies to institutionalize humane and rights-based correctional practices.

The faculty presentations highlighted UB’s commitment to socially responsive and interdisciplinary research and advanced SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) through evidence-based scholarship and public engagement.
