University of Batangas- PGCA Batangas partnership  fosters growth in guidance practicum; hopeful for a stronger network of counseling professionals, students well-being

The University of Batangas (UB) and the Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association, Inc. (PGCA) Batangas Chapter formally entered into a partnership to promote excellence in the guidance and counseling profession through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on November 13, 2021, at the University’s Batangas City campus.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Hernando B. Perez, University President, representing UB, and Dr. Gladiola A. Eje, RGC, LPT, President of PGCA Batangas and UB Guidance, Counseling and Health Officer. The partnership underscores both institutions’ shared commitment to the professional advancement of guidance practitioners and the development of future counselors through academic collaboration and community engagement.

Under the agreement, PGCA Batangas designated the University of Batangas as its official base of operations within the province, reinforcing the University’s role as a hub for professional growth and counseling initiatives. In return, PGCA Batangas will extend various professional opportunities and academic privileges to UB students, alumni, and employees in the field of guidance and counseling, including discounted membership fees, mentorship opportunities for graduate students, and exclusive learning sessions and seminars.

The collaboration aims to cultivate a stronger network among counseling professionals and academic institutions in Batangas, contributing to the shared goal of upholding the highest standards in the practice of guidance and counseling. UB’s Guidance, Counseling and Health Office, in partnership with PGCA Batangas, will also serve as a channel for the implementation of initiatives aligned with professional development, research mentorship, and psychosocial wellness programs.

This partnership marks another milestone in the University of Batangas’ continuing efforts to expand its academic and community linkages in support of student and employee well-being. By fostering meaningful collaborations with professional organizations such as PGCA Batangas, UB reaffirms its dedication to holistic education and its vision of developing compassionate and competent individuals equipped to serve society.
