4th Year Psychology students empower women and girls through “WISE” Outreach in Rosario, Batangas

The University of Batangas (UB) 4th-year Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (AB PSych) students led a meaningful outreach program titled WISE: Wellness and Inner Strength Empowerment for Women and Girls of Regional Haven on December 1, 2023, at Regional Haven in Rosario, Batangas.

The event aimed to uplift and empower women and girls by promoting wellness, confidence, and self-awareness through engaging activities and community interaction, helping participants recognize their inner strength and potential. Psychology students facilitated confidence-building sessions that encouraged self-expression and emotional resilience. They also organized interactive discussions focused on women’s rights, self-care, and empowerment, aligning the initiative with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 5: Gender Equality.

In addition to the interactive sessions, the students provided a variety of materials and essential items to the residents. Donations included educational books, storybooks, erasers, crayons, baby clothes, and meals—all aimed at supporting the daily needs and well-being of the women and children at the Regional Haven. These contributions not only addressed immediate needs ,but also symbolized compassion and solidarity from the University of Batangas community.

The event concluded with smiles and heartfelt gratitude from both the beneficiaries and the student volunteers. The participants left inspired and motivated, carrying with them the reminder that empowerment begins with awareness, support, and shared kindness.

Through the WISE outreach program, the Organization of Psychology Students reaffirmed its commitment to using psychology as a force for empathy, education, and empowerment—proving that small acts of service can create lasting ripples of hope and strength in the community.
